Nurburgring The Playground Of Super Cars

Nürburgring – The Playground of Super Cars.

The Nürburgring is a racing track synonymous with speed and stamina; a test track for the top sports cars manufacturers and a religion for car lovers the world over. Built around the village of Nürburg in Germany, this iconic raceway is visited by thousands of enthusiasts every year.

After races in the Eifel mountains in the 1920s were deemed too hazardous, Germany decided that they needed to follow Italy and construct a purpose built raceway to accommodate the growing automotive industry. After its opening in 1927, Germany began to host events never possible before like the World Cycling Championship and their maiden Grand Prix. In its infant stages, the track was also accessible to the public on certain days and times and even for a short while became a toll road. The history was pleasant and unhindered until WWII when it died down for obvious reasons, but the Nürburgring enjoyed a revival in the 1950s. Big racing names began to come to Germany, and the raceway responded by hosting more and more events; branching into endurance car racing and 24 hour affairs.

Fantastic strides forward to the way cars were made in the 1970s made the raceway re-think and re-design their track to accommodate faster and higher performance cars. Bumps were smoothed and corners were improved to give a wider variety of challenges to racing drivers. Unfortunately this proved to be too little an effort, for in 1976 Niki Lauda was almost burned alive in his F1 car after a crash on the course. It was only by the efforts of his fellow drivers that he was saved, and people began to realise that the 14-mile long raceway came with the inherent risk of fire engines and ambulances not being able to reach crashes in time. The Nürburgring lost the Formula One and it was moved to Hockenheimring.

Today, the Nürburgring has been revamped a countless number of times and serves largely as a public raceway. Anybody can arrive at the track and pay €26 to drive the historic asphalt in their own car (or motorbike.) The fastest lap ever completed was in a British Radical SR8 LM, driven by Michael Vergers.

Racing, either legally or illegally, is often the cause of sports car write-offs. Avoid buying a car with a dodgy past by making sure you check it before you buy it.

If you are a die hard fan of the Beatles you will find the information in this inforgraphic very interesting. There has not been much information published about the cars that The Beatles have driven over the years, but due to their wealth, the list is pretty impressive.
Although some of the cars are highly desirable, there are also a few surprises in the list. Did you know that Paul McCarthy drove a Mini Cooper S? Or that George Harrison drove a Ford Anglia?
Although this isn’t the full list of vehicles that the Fab Four owned, it provides fans with a great insight into their heroes and the cars that they have enjoyed driving over the years!

The Crown Vic has 2.73 final drive ratio and limited slip only

About Steeda ProFlow Cold Air Intake For the 2011-2012 Mustang GT

How does the Steeda ProFlow Cold Air Intake – GT – 11-12 add up to a stock 2011 5.0L Mustang? It has achieved ¼ mile time of 11.88 at over 116 miles per hour. Think about it – that’s pretty good. Steeda is a popular manufacturer as they were the first to get into the 11.90 range using radial tires – the competition used slicks in order to keep up with them.

Steeda is the biggest aftermarket manufacturer for performance equipment made for Ford vehicles. The cold air intake system right here was designed before the vehicle was even available to the public. For Motor Company supplied the CAD data so that it could be made.
The high performance cold air intake made by Steeda allows the intake system of the vehicle to breath more freely than the stock intake system. It takes your vehicle to an entire new level. If you have a 2011 and up 5.0 Mustang, this is a great piece to install on it.

 

About The JLT Plastic CAI For the 2011-2012 Mustang GT

This is one smooth looking tube. During the process of making the JLT Plastic Cold Air Intake, they took the interior sound tube into consideration. They understand that while some do not want it, others do. So, what did they do? They moved it to the inside of the tube. There is a cap included, which will allow you to remove the tube and cap the fitting in the tube. The fitting is lowered when it is capped, so it is not as noticeable at most angles.

The tube has a 4.5 inch opening, so it obviously needs to have a big filter. With this CAI, there is no metal tubing involved. It has been finished off with a silicone coupler and stainless clamps. Honestly, this is one of the best intakes you are going to find on the market.
For those who own a 2012 Boss 302 and a 2011-2012 GT Mustang that are using the Boss intake manifold, the kit will fit as is. However, including a 3″ vs. 2″ coupler will make it fit better. Those cars that have automatic transmissions will require an additional fitting.
When using this CAI, it is going to increase your power to around 30+ RWHP. It uses a big area in order to make sure the filter has a large amount of cool air.
